Want to know what my unfinished house taught me?
Last week, I was sitting on my screened-in porch with my partner and smiled because as I looked around I realized how much I love our house and where we live.
But I had to laugh a little because getting here was not a quick or easy process!
Unfinished and O.K.
It took more than a year of living through a remodel. There was dust, disruption, decisions, and plenty of moments when I wondered why we tackled this house and if it would ever feel finished. And if I’m being honest, it still isn’t completely finished. The outside of the house still needs to be painted, the driveway needs repaired, and the roof still needs replaced.
But as I sat there enjoying the evening, I realized something: I don’t need everything to be perfect to appreciate where I am.
This month’s intention is:

I am exactly where I am supposed to be.
Sometimes we convince ourselves that we can’t fully enjoy the present until we reach the next milestone, complete the next project, lose the weight, get the promotion, or finally have everything figured out.
But life is happening right now.
The beauty is not only found in the finished product. It’s found in the process, in the little moments, and in learning to appreciate the season we are currently in.
My house may not be completely finished, but it is home. Seriously, it’s not finished… and I love it anyway!
And maybe there are parts of your life that feel the same way… a little unfinished, a little messy, still evolving. That doesn’t mean you aren’t exactly where you’re supposed to be.
Journal prompt:
What can I appreciate about where I am right now?
Take a moment to pause and notice what is already good.
See you soon!
P.S. If you need a little reminder to slow down and be present, I invite you to roll out your mat for today’s suggested class, Go with the Flow. It’s just 21 minutes long and available in your membership library. 💙
August Intention: I am exactly where I am supposed to be.
