As the new year settles in, I find myself thinking about resolutions and how each small step we take today shapes our tomorrow. This is especially true as I prepare for the Align and Shine Retreat. Each year, I write a quote for each of their journals, and yesterday I came across one that feels just right for our January intention:
“The future depends on what we do in the present.” – Mahatma Gandhi
Isn’t that the heart of New Year’s resolutions? Not about overhauling everything overnight, but about choosing one mindful action, one gentle practice, one moment of presence at a time. As I pack and plan for Bonaire, I’m reminded that our retreat, this whole month, and every day of our lives, is about showing up for ourselves. Right now, just as we are.
Every time you roll out your mat, pause for a breath, or write a few words in your journal, you’re investing in your future self. You don’t have to have it all figured out. Just show up for yourself in this present moment. That’s where real change begins.
Journal Prompt:
What is one thing you can do today (no matter how small) that your future self will thank you for?
Write it down, and notice how it feels to honor the present moment.
