Last week, I had a huge reminder of just how powerful small steps can be. I completed my scuba certification (one breath at a time) with four deep-water dives in Bonaire.
I’ll be honest. I was apprehensive going into those Caribbean dives. But I told myself that I would take each dive one by one. I wasn’t going to think about completing my certification. I was just going to do the first dive. Then the next one…
As I walked into the ocean on that first dive, I remembered that the journey didn’t begin with that single step. It started months ago with hours of online study, weekly classroom sessions, and so much practice in the pool with my local instructor.
Every tiny step (each skill learned, each moment of doubt faced) built the confidence I needed to take that first big, brave descent.
One Step at a Time
